Last Week

After the 4th week of observing my aquarium only one new species was identified. The seed shrimp are small crustaceans that are protected by hard shell. they generally live in the top part of their enviroment which is where I observed them.

Week 3

As the weeks have gone by I have noticed that I am not seeing as many organisms in my aquarium yet the variety continues to grow. I continue to see mainly diatioms, rotophers, and halteria, I did discover two new organisms this week. The vorticella and the nematode. The vorticella is a bell shaped cilliate that is a member of the protozoa family. When it is stimulated the stalk shrinks like a coil. the Nematode or roundworm is part of the largest family in the animal kingdom. Over 80,000 have been identified and some believe that there may be over 500,000 different species.
